A recent project was to construct an espresso cup and saucer using the techniques of electoforming and marrying metal.

I've made two very different versions but this is the first.

The design was inspired by my name: Jaki Coffey. I used the 'j' as the shape as the saucer and the cup was to represent the Coffey. The bean is to further reiterate the coffee/Coffey pun.

The cup is a plastic lid for a bottle which is electroformed. It sits into the 'j' snugly and the weight of the cup keeps the saucer upright.

The 'j' is gilding metal and copper married together. The bean is an electroformed coffee bean with has then been gold plated.
